you all know bestival was muddy, i also know it was ace. despite getting arrested [wtf?] on the way in, falling over in the mud six times and leaving my phone in the car rendering me unable to reach any of my friends at all, then having to leave earlier than planned, i had a bloody good time. it did take me several hours to completely de-muddify

Not at all. I had only the most rudimentary knowledge of German when I went to Berlin and found my way around just fine, most people speak enough English to understand you without any problems.

I loved, loved, loved Berlin, but I can't think of anything you have to see. For reference, there was a good bagel place over in the East (near the Volkesbühe, station was Rosa-something I think), called Bagels & Bialys. Good vegetarian range and reasonable prices, just a little hole in the wall near the Häckenhescherhöfe (I think it's called) and where the Berlin International Short Film Festival is held. Going up the TV-Turm at Alexanderplatz is touristy, but you get an awesome view of Berlin from there

yep, i got arrested. i found the whole thing quite amusing though i've been hearing scary stories from people about what might happen when i report back to the police station in 3 weeks time!

and i figured my friends have enough german between them to mask the fact that i can only lick faces & drink beer! will keep your tips in mind, especially the tv tower.... i love being above the city, and below it. as for the bagels, i've been told that berlin is full of tasty vege treats which will make a nice change from bavaria which was just sausage sausage sausage and potatoes!

yes, bastardy bloody dogs. it's only cos we were talking about it in the car on the way there, we doomed ourselves. nobody else i know even saw any dogs on the way in!

Oooh, I went to the first two Bestivals and had scary dog moments on way in to both!!! I just walked fast and close to a bunch of strangers and I think the dog got confused, probably overwhelmed from getting it in all directions!!!

i would have tried the walking fast near strangers thing if i hadn't been so focussed on not falling over face first in the thick mud and/or wetting my pants! was just bad luck really. i find the whole thing quite amusing though i'm a little worried about the possibility of a criminal record wrecking my chances at citizenship should i try for it. also i have to change planes in LA on my way to samoa and the us are known for being well picky about stuff like that even if you're not staying!
