Weather forecast says today's high temperature will be a balmy 19 degrees.
It apparently got down to 4 degrees last night, and in the process it looks like a water main somewhere upstream from us broke, or something like that. A few times since last night, I've turned on the cold water to find it running muddy brown. It clears up after it's been running for 20 to 30 seconds. Unfortunately, it looks like some of whatever's in the water has gotten into the toilet fill valve and gummed it up. Now the toilet doesn't fill, even though the tank is bone dry. About 10 hours ago, it wasn't like this... I don't think the supply line is frozen, because the water is working fine everywhere else in the house (other than occasionaly being brown...). I'm told that these Fluidmaster refill valves can, in fact, get clogged up if there's junk in the water, and it's a relatively simple matter to pull the valve out and clean it to restore function. So I'm going to have to try that when I get home.
