For all the Highlander fans on LJ and DW

friendshipper is watching Highlander as a brand spanking new fan. She's squeeing about it on her journal. Now in season 4. Careful though. She doesn't want any spoilers, but it's so much fun reading her impressions as a new fan. And guess which character she's currently feeling lots of love for?

Had a look there. Gosh, that brings back memories, isn't it? All that Methos adoration, 'sweet dorky 5000 years old thing', 'I can do cute', let's cuddle, yeah, probably, a dark side somewhere, have to rummage long aтв hard, probably, moderate swordsman...

I'm cackling in evil glee here, I am. :)

*laughs madly* I know. Isn't it great?! I'm having so much fun reading her posts and responding without giving her spoilers.

I won't be able to contain myself, therefore I won't respond. But she so reminds me of my utter dismay during CAH and Rev 6:8 and my horrified: 'He? That can't be!' and my utter fascination with that turnaround afterwards. Oh, joys of first experiences. Nothing can replace this show. Nothing. Sometimes we just need to be reminded how utterly gorgeous it was, seeing it all for the first time...

Exactly! When I finally broke down and got my first computer, the series was off the air. The fandom was still going fairly strong, but everyone was well established fans. Since I didn't get to experience the first run episodes with other fans, it's fun seeing her get to.

It's so different now. Back when I was watching Highlander when it originally aired, it was a solitary experience, other than one girl on my Scottish dance group who watched it. Then, in 96 I got a computer, got online, and it became a communal experience. It was all such a novelty. Now we pretty much take it for granted that we can instantly find people to share our fannish glee with, and you don't have to wait to go to a con to talk to fellow fans.

I know. That's how it was for me too. There was no one to talk about the series. It wasn't until years later when I got a computer and found the yahoo groups that I had a Highlander family.

*heh* I don't think so. Maybe she would like to join the PWFC.
