I was going to post the lyrics to Art Brut's song '
Good Weekend' - but the only relevant part of it is the title. So I won't.
So the last two weekends I've posted up some great times. For a stimulating wrap up peek behind
Last weekend (Labor day):
Fri: Hung w/ friends in town from Denver - ate fantastic Chinese food, drank beer, played fun games (shuffleboard, tennis and ping pong), talked a bunch.
Sat: Laid low all day, did laundry, cleaned up and organized, barely left home. Felt somewhat irritable and melancholy but that was ok. It was a fine fine day. In the evening I started my previously vowed 'month back to fitness' by going for my first run in over two months. It felt amazing and helped my mood.
Sun: Slept in, watched tennis, , tried to see a movie but the projector failed - earning us a free pass and resulting in a good talk w/
clear_cut, then met up w/
hughferriss for mall food and hanging for a bit w/
chaosmassive, then played tennis w/
aceisspanish before going to a wedding w/
aceisspanish and
secretsouth and going out w/ them and some others for a super fun night which ended in the best 3 am pancakes ever at the 5Point. (Wow - it was a LJ day!)
Mon: woke at the crack of noon to a call from
hughferriss to meet up for pho and frisbee and coffee. Lovely. Then came home for a bbq w/ many of the same people.
See what I mean? Good times.
Ready for more?
This weekend:
Fri: came home for a run then met for dinner and drinks w/ keri and
clear_cut then went to see The Invasion which was somewhat better than expected, but still not so great. It was a fun night though.
Sat: Slept in nicely, went downtown to the private practice office to meet a client for a mental health assessment for immigration purposes (long story, unique opportunity that literally knocked on my door when I was there on Tues). They didn't show due to car problems, but I ended up sitting outside in the park in Pioneer Square for a couple hours reading this stirring account of a woman who moved from LA to Wyoming to film a documentary for PBS but stayed to work as a ranch hand. Then went and met
chaosmassive for a walk about the hill before having dinner w/ he and his wife. It had been far too long since any quality hanging out has taken place, so it was very nice to spend the evening w/ them.
Sun: Michelle prepared a delicious and filling breakfast before
secretsouth and I headed down to Qwest field for the Seahawks' season opener. They won, it was a super nice day, we walked there and back. Came home for a bbq, then went off w/
aceisspanish at 8:30pm for two hours of tennis under the lights. I just got home. Sated. Good lord. Fun.
I also talked w/ potentially the only person I could envision being any kind of roommate with about that possibility, and he was open to it should we find ourselves in the position to need/want to get into such an arrangement. It gives me a sense of direction and relief.
Secretsouth and I leave for San Fran on Wednesday afternoon. There was a third party going but he pulled out. I'm really stoked for this trip. We've talked about doing a road trip for a long time, and we're taking a hybrid, so gas will be dirt cheap! We also have a friend of a friend who has an apartment in the Castro district she's letting us stay in since she'll be out of town. Sweet. Oh - and I'll get to see my friend Dave for a bit, as well as go to
this festival and see a lot of good music. (Including Spoon for the 3rd time in 2 months, which is nowhere near too much.)
