I need inspiration to write my personal statement for my (late) ucas application. I hating writing things like this, it's always the starting off that's the hard part. Any pointers?

"I like cats. Cats are good. You will like me".

I should so be an admissions tutor.

Read (random bits of, for free) other people's, which is not to say that they're good.

Sorry, no idea! I've never done anything like this.

If you want, I can email you a copy of the personal statement I sent to Oxford. Structurally, I think you need to start by saying why you're interested in studying what it is you're applying for. Then mention what you've studied so far, and follow that up by saying why the place you're applying to is the best place to take your studies further.

"I have been actively interested in pritty bois since I was a teenager, although I can trace the origins of my fascination for cheekbones and eyeliner back to my days as a cross-dressing tomboy. I have contributed to websites which feature pretty bois and have followed many of them, writing in fanzines about their appeal. I WANT PRETTY BOIS AND YOU HAVES THEM, yesssss."

Something like that.

Actually, that's probably why I got rejected by Oxford. Maybe I should send you the statement I sent to Sheffield instead...
