Tea for three (RP for professor_snark and morphingmoon)

Remus looked at the piece of paper where he'd been sketching out ideas for the home he and Snape were planning, and realized that he hadn't touched quill to paper for almost ten minutes.  As a distraction technique it wasn't working at all.  He shoved the paper away and got up, quickly finding himself pacing the room.  He was sure that it was ( Read more... )

Severus had been calmly reading his book, but Remus' constant pacing had become very distracting.

"You do remember that he already likes you? He'd very much like for you to be his father, and already feels a connection to you. Or have all of your self doubts of not being good enough risen to the fore," he asked, setting down his rising to his feet.

He went to Remus, bracing his hands on his shoulders. "He knows who we are and what we are to each other. Nothing is going to come to a surprise to him. Please relax, or use your energy to make me a nice cuppa." Grinning, he kissed his cheek and returned to his book.

"Yeah, but he... and I..." Blood hell, it he'd forgotten how deflating it could be when someone knew you well enough to know what you were thinking. Self doubts were certainly to the fore.

"One cuppa coming up." He made the tea, fixing a cup for each of them, then forced himself to sit down on the couch. "He likes the idea of me, like some character in a story he's read. He doesn't know me yet."

"And yet he still wishes to you know, how very odd," Severus smirked, taking the cup. "Ta." He took a sip, then looked to Remus, making a face.

"This one is laced with so much sugar, I think I'm going to choke. Do you mind if we trade? I think there might of been a mix up."

He tried to hide his small smile.

"Yes, well too much sugar is what you get for being a smug know it all." He held out his cup, offering it to Snape and taking back the one meant for him.

Remus saw the look, and went out of the way to ignore it. "And what dark little secret corner are those hiding in, Sev? Funny, but they're noticeably not visible on your bookshelves."

Remus turned his head and grinned at Snape. "Of course there's no point denying my lack of any skills when it comes to potions. But someone is delusional if they think they can best me when it comes to Defense skills."

Teddy got an excited grin on his face at the thought of being able to read more Agatha Christie books. "Really? That would be ace. There's a few of hers I haven't read yet. So many people would think her stuff was naff just because she's a Muggle. You're a bit of all right, Severus."

And then, "Well, my mum was an Auror, so she had to be half-way decent at Potions to be one."

"Oh really?" Severus asks, arching an eyebrow at Remus. "We may have to test that one day, Professor Lupin."

He looked at Teddy and smiled. "I'll let you go through them before you leave. I trust you'll return whatever is borrowed, though I ask they don't leave the room."

Lest you get hexed. Severely.

"I'm sure something could be arranged, Professor Snape." In this area he is confident; he's always been tops at Defense. As a student he and his mates wondered if it had anything to do with his dark creature blood.

"You probably don't know what a gesture that is, Teddy. Sev likes books better then people."
