I have to agree with you on the fact that the resolution of this was way too simple. I must admit, though, the Doctor got Bonnie to admit that what they really want is war, nothing more. No visions of what they will do if , heaven forbid, they win the war; things like how are they going to support themselves, etc. Sounds like a certain real situation I see panning out; certain groups don't really want a country of their own. Even when they were offered 99% of what they wanted, they still refused, because they wouldn't know what to do with a real state if they got it, and they'd rather see everyone (including their own children) die than live in peace. And if there is a "silent majority" there, we haven't heard from them. Probably because they know they would be murdered if they said anything

I was also concerned at the opening with the plane being shot down and then images of the wreckage with broken seats, so very similar to those released this week from Sinai. The fact that there was no mention of the pilot or other crew who may have perished jarred a bit

And, yes, the ending did involve a "reset" button, since apparently this was the 15th time this happened.
Which sort of squashed any perceived passion from Capaldi's just previous speech, if this was the 16th time he delivered it.
That's another thing I dislike about Moffat's series'. He'll have a story with a fantastic ending, then he'll shoot it in the foot for that one last bit of "cleverness" that wasn't even really needed.
