Hah, I would totally have been into Styx and Def Leppard.

We saw Blue Man Group a few weeks ago; that was a neat show. ^.^

Yep, it was pretty good. Looking back after a little sleep (and after my Captain's buzz has worn of), there was a good time had by all.

I've seen Blue Man Group on a PBS special once. They looked entertaining. Were you close enough to see facial expressions and things, or did they broadcast video of them on screens for you to see? Seems like it would be key to have that perspective with them.

They had big screens. There were a few glitches with some of their equipment, but otherwise it was a quite enjoyable show.

A beer snob and anti-white trash! Girl you need to take a contract down in Houston or College Station. We could have a blast hanging out!

There's also going to be a "geekfest" in Austin soon. There'll be an all night Firefly marathon (that's what I'm going for) not that I don't own the whole DVD set.

zomg, all-night Firefly marathon!! That would be AWESOME!!

Beer snob, guilty as charged. Never been to Texas. How's the nursing climate down there? Considering a southern venue for the change of seasons.

How it is depends a great deal on where you go and what you expect. Texas is very much anti-union, so there are no nursing unions, at least none that are very visible. I haven't done any ER work in Houston, but Memorial Hermann and Ben Taub hospitals are some of the best trauma centers in the nation. The military sends corpsmen here to train on battlefield injuries. Texas Medical Center in Houston is the largest medical complex in the world. We have two of the pioneers of modern medicine here: Dr. DeBakey (heart surgeon) and Dr. "Red" Duke (one of the creaters of the field of trauma surgery ( ... )

The hospital I'm at now is the first union shop I've been in - and it has it's pros and cons. Not sure I'd like being anything other than a traveler at a union shop, but my opinion on that could change with more experience.

Lol, I'm not a stranger to that. All of my patients are "ma'am" or "sir", regardless of age. I do get swept up into calling patients "sweetie" from time to time, and I've been admonished for that before - working on my PC nurse-patient relationship skills still. I spent summers in Georgia as a youngster and those traits have stuck to me. Late nights or heavy alcohol use will find me uttering "y'all"s from time to time as well.
