The only problem I had was networking issues. ^.^;;
I managed to fix them too. Apparently they were on my end?
All the bugs you mentioned are mentioned on their forum though, on the list of things they're aware of and working on. You must have really bad luck to get them all. o.o;;
It will be great when it's patched, and such simple issues are solved. Honestly, loosing character data, quest token exchanges not working, what rudimentary RPG stuff that they've managed to completely bone. I guess they were too well used to milking mediocre WWII FPSes to develop basic coding or quality assurance skills? Actually the state of the game smacks of the publisher interfering and demanding a pre-holiday release date.
I'm not sure how I feel about the wholesale appropriation of GIR.
I just totally don't like it. Give me Fallout 3 back any day. I had the robot freeze on the first couple quests and that was enough to make me not want to do it anymore real quick.
Hmmm. As much as I'm enjoying the game already, I have to admit I've already encountered bug #1 myself; more specifically, after killing all the bandits raiding Fyrestone and going to meet the doctor, Claptrap just stood there. Thankfully it was in the first 10 minutes of playing, and I got a really nifty pistol with a scope on it from a chest, but... yeah, not exactly a reassuring concept.
Actually, though, this does remind me of something I've noticed in relation to the amount of 'hype' a game gets and how many bugs it has on release compared to the general opinion of the game... more specifically, the rather nasty treatment Cryptic's Champions Online has been getting from that, compared to, say, this game. May be worth looking into further.
Make sure he's not just standing there waiting for you to push the button to open the gate. I think there's a point after you get into the first gates that you have to push a button after he tries to open the gates and they don't work. So you have to push the button, and then the gate opens.
I'm almost positive he wasn't just waiting for me; it was the scene where he 'knocks' on the door to let Doc know it's safe to come out. Hell, my SO told me right off the bat that I'd have to restart, so I'm guessing it happened to him too... and I may've missed something, but there's no way he did.

Stupid arbitrary deadlines, that's why.
