Whoa, this went where I didn't expect it -- good job with the allure that the Queen has being different from Padme's and the sickness that Anakin feels being required to touch her. These circumstances would have made him turn even easier, maybe? Or sooner?

I kind of wanted to explore what would happen if he gave in to those darker urges without sacrificing his own, albeit occasionally skewed, morals. In the comics he seems almost sympathetic towards her by the end.

Uh-huh. And then there is the visual effect of the artist's depiction of her dying moments, and his look as he lifts her ...

Yeaaah, I was a little weirded out by that, honestly. Like, Anakin's has kind of odd relationships with the women in his life, but I didn't really buy that he would have any kind of feelings for her.

This is how it really should have gone, definitely. The way you write Anakin teetering on the brink of darkness, and the mixed reactions of the people around him to that, is just perfect. And I sort of love you a lot for the disdainful way he refers to her 'empire'. Oh Anakin. If only you knew.
