Did Anakin just knee Obi-Wan in the crotch? Yes, yes he did.

I've been reading a lot of the reactions to the past two episodes of Clone Wars with some interest. It looks like this arc has caused a lot of division, especially with the Anakin/Obi-Wan fans. Now, look, I count myself as an Anakin/Obi-Wan fan. I love the idea of them sexing it up across the galaxy. However - and this is a big however - I feel ( Read more... )

Now, I'm not going to say I don't think keeping Anakin out of the loop wasn't a dick move, because it was.See, and I think in this case, you can even extrapolate about Obi-Wan's sense of guilt and his knowing that even if the ends justify the means, it's still really callous/unfair; like, you can pull romantic/angsty subtext from it. YOU CAN HAVE THEM DOING IT UP THE BUTT ("Maaaaaaasssteeerrrrr"). But like, there's no need to presume that the show's writers/canon purveyors/etc. aren't right there with you. (Well, maybe KMiller. She'd have to write them so differently, after all. :P ( ... )

Truth. Like, it seemed to have been Obi-Wan's idea to keep Anakin in the dark, but he still seems pretty upset by the idea and is only really doing it because, again, duty ( ... )

Basically, I think Obi-Wan's relieved when Anakin gets Knighted because he's allowed to treat him more like a brother than his charge at that point. Anakin seems to relax a little too, and the vortex of emotions thing doesn't seem so severe/obvious; in a romantic context, Obi-Wan probably only balks about half the time after that when Anakin wants to put it in him. :P And then there's the war and Ahsoka, and Obi-Wan gets to politely pretend he doesn't notice Anakin slowly losing his shit until, whoops, now he has to.

I'm sure Obi-Wan had his own little private party for a LOT of reasons when Anakin was Knighted, not least of which being the fact he didn't have to worry about being an authority figure who couldn't possibly measure up to Qui-Gon anymore. Because you know that's what he thought about, like, every single damn day.

It helps that Anakin significantly mellows once he's Knighted as well, up until close to the end, anyway. He's more liable to take Obi-Wan's advice if they're on more equal footing. Doesn't stop him from going nutters, but slows the descent for a little while, anyway.

One bit that hasn't been commented on is in the voiceover in part one-o, the Council is saying something that makes Obi-Wan look all draggy and resigned? Like he knows what's going to happen when Anakin grieves over him?

Also, when Her Grace finds out that she cried over nothing at his funeral, I hope she fetches him a good one across the chops, then storms off. End of arc.

I think Obi-Wan is very aware of how Anakin's going to react and the impact it's going to have on their relationship. He doesn't like it, but duty comes first and he'll deal with it.

Ha, yes. That does bring up another good point - there are a LOT of people who think Obi-Wan is dead, and who, presumably, aren't in on the plot. Satine, Padme, Bail, etc - they're going to feel mighty betrayed when they find out the truth, yet another wedge between the Jedi and the Senate.

Prior-mentioned Zygerrian slave mission. Anakin blows their cover because he refuses to whip Obi-Wan to remain in character

...does this really happen somewhere; does the slashfic write itself?

Anakin can't pretend to be grief-stricken and angry, he just IS those things.

I have no idea what is going on here, but this made me laugh. Truth, babes, truth.

Yes to both. It happens not only on the show, but also in a comic and... yeah. Surprisingly, not much has been done with the ~possibilities~.

FWIW, I think "grief-stricken and angry" just about sums Anakin up 85% of the time.

The ratio can vary from day to day, depending on how hungry he is.

To be honest I never read books from the EU because everyone has a different point of view. Because some author wrote something doesn't mean we all have to stick to his opinion, or that we should take their stories into account to analyze a character's personality.

I have to say I tend to dislike the characters created in the EU, especially Ferus Olin. Just like Bella Swan, he's too perfect to be likeable (and flaws are what make us both human, unique and loved). Other characters are usually sadly under-developed, or awkwardly.

I personnally think Anakin would be great under cover, because he has a broader experience of life while other Padawans have spent an uneventful and sheltered life in the Temple. Real undercover agents are able to socialize and blend in immediatly. How can you do that if you live outside a society? You can't.

Otherwise I agree with you.

Ps. I hope my English is not too bad.
