While I don't have an iPod myself, I have a friend who recently acquired one as a gift. He hates iTunes. Since he's a Linux aficionado, he uses GNUpod to manage his iPod. You could probably get it working under Windows with Cygwin.

As for people telling you that you've wasted money, I hope you told them to fuck off. The iPod is a higher quality product. While I don't like Apple trying to cram DRM up my ass, I'd love to have an iPod to call my own. I have a PowerBook, and I love it. I needed a laptop that just "worked," and that's where Apple really shines.

Enjoy your iPod :-)!

BTW, I'm curious to hear your review of Silent Hill. Stay Alive looked like another Final Destination ripoff, so I avoided it like the plague. I've actually been anticipating this movie for sometime. I'm very curious to hear on Sean Bean & Alice Krige's acting in this one.

Now if I could just finish Silent Hill IV...

I AM enjoying my iPod. :D Your right, it is a higher quality product. It doesn't look like a gadget. It doesn't have nerd or geek written all over it, it is a beautiful piece of technology that does it's job better than anything out there. Simply put you have iPods, then on a level down, all other mp3 players.

As for DRM, I can understand the need for DRM in this world, but I avoid it. In apple's defense, I have had no problems moving all my non-DRMed music to the iPod. The only time I would have to deal with DRM is if I bought iTunes music, so I'm not really bothered. Now if it didn't support MP3s, I would NEVER buy it.
