Have you ever done the RPM challenge? It's where you record an album in a month. There's only like eleven days left, but it's never too late to start (if you haven't)!
More than any place I've lived, Alaska seems to welcome outsiders, probably because everyone is originally from somewhere else. But at the same time, the strangeness of the place is humbling and makes it hard to feel at home. There are a lot of unique things to learn.
I've noticed younger people, particularly college and pre-college aged kids, seem very territorial about Alaska, even more than Natives, who seem more resigned to the fact that people will come and go. I definitely felt more Alaskan in Fairbanks than in Anchorage.
