Squirrels have infested my old apartment.
Just to clear the air my tenants and I had a heart to heart concerning the issues they were facing living in my old place. They are a couple that has just recently decided after three years of "dating" to do the live together thing. The girlfriend was the catalyst to them finally taking my apartment for a year lease. Before this couple moved in I had previously rented the apartment to a newlywed couple that needed a summer transition apartment while they were putting the finishing touches to their house in Connecticut and an "Insourced" Computer Programmer from India with a wife and baby who was looking for a furnished apartment so he wouldn't have to pay a hundred dollars a night for a hotel room with a kitchenette. Now this is my first foray into being a real landlord. Originally I had bought the apartment so that I wouldn't have to waste cash on rent money that would be going to pay somebody else's mortgage. When I lost my job last year around April I decided to rent the place out furnished so I wouldn't have to pay for storage. I was really surprised how many people were into paying to live in a furnished apartment for a few months at a time. So, up until this march I was still renting out the place furnished month to month and I had another "Insourced" Programmers ready to move in. Unfortunately my prospective tenant had a family emergency in India which prevented him from taking the place. I had to put the place back on the rental classifieds. This time I decide that I need a more stable situation and opened up the apartment for renters looking to sign a yearly lease. So in comes my lovely "living together" couple. She seemed nice enough....
