Updates

I'd like to say this is an obligatory update, but there's no gun to my head. I'd like to keep it that way too.

In the last sixty days I'll focus on work as it's been the centre of my focus. I managed to keep on working with the warehouse handling the furniture stuff, but sure enough the work finally died down somewhat. My labour hire company offered a more fixed term placement with a brick factory but I have worked in one before, finding that watching machines do their work for more than 4 hours is mind numbing enough without the shifts actually being 12 hours long, alternating between day and night. I wasn't going to accept that placement even if they were to offer a fantastic rate. Money is a poor motivator for me.

Unfortunately money is what makes companies run and when they aren't running as much money as they can, they need to hang onto their money, which puts me out of hours to work for said money. The net result of this is the furniture place had little to no work for me to actually do. Combining these days off with a few bills at once and my budget took a bit of a hammering over the course of the last 3 weeks, I managed to get two days with a fence-making company doing simple work like cutting lengths of steep pipe ( And I note that 6 metres of medium gauge '50mm square' tube for fences posts weighs more than it looks! )

Between all of this I was out at the Perth Mint, whom were looking for someone to fill an order picking position. This line of work is in order with my previous full time position at the plumbing supply warehouse, pick check and pack, but they do stipulate that there be zero errors with the work, as I'm not dealing with two dollar lengths of drain hose but rather larger orders of precious metals. Understandably, clients would be upset if they were short-changed, and conversely very quiet if some extra coin arrived with their order.

Tomorrow morning ( Tuesday 7th ) I'll be doing an induction to the workplace and then spending the rest of the evening getting taught what to do / coming to grips with it all. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it as the work occurs within the CBD. But I'm willing to try my paw at it to see if I still have the skills to pick orders with both speed and precision. I have heard the work environment is a bit hostile, but that remains to be seen for my own eyes, I just might be able to get on with the others quite well for all I know.

I do know I am not looking forward to the fact I'll be catching the train to and from work again, given my current residence the ride is actually rather short but the train is usually full when going in and with the specifics of security at the workplace, even having earbuds would be an inconvenience. I shall need to work out a solution to entertainment while walking from home to the station and then the short bus ride to the workplace.

On the bright side the wage isn't bad at all given the work itself, so while I'm scraping a little at the close of this pay-week, the prospect of regular hours coupled with adjustments to daily expenditures [ fares rather than fuel, dietary adjustments given with the change of locale ] the prospect of some prosperity toward my rainy day savings is promising.

In short; New change of work scene, reasonable money, I hate trains and other than that, not really much is going on.

On a side note, I don't intend to register for the upcoming furWAG either. I didn't get all I could of out of the time I went to MIDfur, and these days I'm finding myself mostly disconnected from the fandom, maybe I'm overdue for a good distraction, something with which to derive joy from, I just don't think larger social groups could do it for me.
