Twenty minutes is not ideal time to free herself from the latest style in Treborean fashion, choose another outfit, find where she left her shoes, decide whether or not to take her hair down, find her pinpoint, locate her purse and tell Ewar that she's going out for a few hours. On the other hand, it's a rare day that Damita actually has need for a ( Read more... )

The only reason the door does not open immediately is that Adriaan does not want the woman to know he was standing on the other side waiting for her. Only for the last five minutes or so, but waiting none the less. Someone is perhaps a little more lonely than usual and eager for the company.

Doesn't hurt that this particular company is Damita.

He counts to ten in English and then in Dutch before answering her knock. "Goedenavond, Meisje." Good evening, indeed though he sounds like he may have just developed a hairball with the guttural pronunciation of the words. He hasn't though Adriaan nearly chokes on a laugh as he notices that she is still wearing a dress and is in bare feet.

"Come in...please. I will pretend to understand the lack of footwear if you like." It's okay, his floors are spotless and the carpeting is very plush.

"I took my shoes off to change my dress," she says, with dignity, "and I was already here when I realized I forgot to put them back on."

With that out of the way, Damita saunters past him towards the living room - pausing only to hold out the jar. "These are for Schatje." No, really?

He smiles while watching her walk in as if she owns the place. "So then, you must be for me." Casual, calm and quiet is the way he makes this statement before ducking into the kitchen. Let her wonder at his expression. Hint: He's biting his tongue so as to not laugh.

Schatje may be in the bedroom getting into things she shouldn't but she does hear Damita's voice and her own name. Wonderful, the she-thing is back and maybe the he-thing can stop talking about her all the time. The squirrel scampers and runs through the apartment until she's perched on the edge of the coffee table in the living room. What's for me, exactly?

"I don't know how you take your tea..." Which is why he's carrying a tray into the room instead of just two cups. There's sugar, cream, honey and of course those cookies along with their hot drinks. "Schatje, move."

Choosing not to address that ridiculousness on the part of Mr van Rijs, Damita swoops down to pick Schatje up - what her cleavage needs is a squirrel, this is obvious, and it's harder to mess up her hair when it's in a fiercely-pinned knot - and turn to face Adriaan and examine the tea things in the process when she sits down. "Hello, sweetheart, I know you missed me."

Or is pleased to see her because now Adriaan will shut up about her, whatever, it counts. "Thiiiis is lovely," she adds, investigating the cream before she decides whether or not to use it.
