What a way to start the day! I was on I-35, on schedule to be in the office by 8 for an 8:30 meeting, and someone crashes into the back of my car! I had slowed quickly because the car in front of me slowed quickly -- you know the kind of thing. 2) No, but I got a better contract company and a new contract (It has taken until April 21 to get all of my Feb and March paychecks to me, and the bank has put holds on them every time because they are hand-written). this contract is with the Texas Employees Retirement System amd is really cool. Either for good or ill, we're both covered by the same company.

I don't know what TX law has to say about this, but since it is clearly his fault you might be able to file a claim against his insurance company. Or, failing that, you might eventually get your deductible back if you file with yours (when they collect); you could ask them. I was once in a similar accident (car in front of me stopped, I stopped, the three cars behind me did not under their own power). Because it was a four-car accident it took quite some time for me to get my money, but I eventually did. And I didn't have a police report either. But every place is different, so YMMV (so to speak).
Both being insured with the same company does add an interesting wrinkle, though...

Best news of all: I figured out, with the help of an extremely diligent help desk person who was willing to escalate and let me stay on hold, why my mortgage payments haven't been being deducted from my payment account. So they won't foreclose on us. As my Buddhist cube mate says, each challenge will fall before a continued confident step forward.
One by one, things are getting back into sync. (Isn't it wonderful to be able to say that?)
