hey renee,
so kind you are. portraits are hard for some people but remember all the siblings i mentioned i had...FREE MODELS! plus i have always been 'drawn' to the human expression/figure. it's an amazing gift god's given me...only way to explain it. i'll never forget the first time i was able to achieve a 'slight resemblance' to my subject...i must have been 11 years old, i was hooked from then on.

just don't ask me to draw a tree or animal...eeek!
thanks again.

maybe i am too modest or too damn hard on myself. like you said the reasons you like lj...people from all over have an oppurtunity to be moved by your art or words. now if you ask me...you should be writing a book. all this talk about giftedness. you have a way of painting a picture with your words that moves me to places all over...past, present and future.

i am glad we have an opportunity to uplift each other in ways we probably take way too much for granted!
thank you again...it means a lot coming from you!

I'm about to start my first with Prismacolors and this is inspiring, to say the least.

ahh thanks jimmy!
but it is amazing...someone that i had done a commission for i guess maybe 3 years ago...just came to me to draw this child's brother. it was before i figured out how to kinko/color copy them and couldn't remember the drawing. she reminded me and i had a vague recollection but said she would digishoot it and send me a look via email. when i got it last night...i was *amazed* i had done that.

so much work and so little memory. i guess that is a good thing in some regards...but this i would have liked to retain. thank god for technology and my lack of fear around IT.

take care...hope you're drying out in NYC
btw...i love this icon of you. much more so than bunnyearedgummo. he is starting to give me the creeps....hehehe.

i actually love this boys face...so androgenously beautiful. just the movie was disturbing and made me sad. since i have been seeing your icons...i want to see it again...maybe i will feel different.

Once again another masterpiece that's just so brilliant and stunning:) I just love that you first did the portrait in black and white and then in color. Your brain must be some kind of super computer for beauty translation!

hi jaime,
thanks...so much for your much appreciated opinion. but must correct some confusion. i only did the portait in color...and when i color copied it at kinkos and scanned it in computer...i photoshopped it to black and white. i was pleasantly surprised my color values held true in the translation to black and white. b/w is what i know so well...color in portraiture was something i wanted to try. i just tend to see so many colors...i get overwhelmed.

glad you are back.
