Look, when I go out to eat/drink/be merry, I should have the right not to be exposed to secondhand smoke. Just because it might be someone else's addiction does not mean that I need to suffer for it. If you want to smoke, do it in and around your own home.
I for one will ALWAYS welcome ANY ban on smoking. After being subject to years of second hand smoke from my father, I have very little tolerance for smoke. Even just walking behind a smoker or being in a restaurant that has separate sections can get my allergies rocking.
I've personally seen not only what can happen to a lifetime smoker (healthwise) but also the true grasp it has on an addict. It's not cool, it's not pretty, and it certainly is not intelligent. It's devastating. Even more when you know that it's something 100% preventable.
