Attention hikers (or should I just say Jen...?):

Got any great suggestions for a day hike in the White Mountains?

I convinced Jeff it would be REALLY awesome to take a trip up there next weekend and hike a 4,000 footer. Now it's just choosing which one?

Know of any great resources? It's on me to plan this thing, so I wanna get it right ;o) No ( Read more... )

There is an amazing loop with gorgeous views in the souther Whites...The Welch-Dickey loop. It goes over two small peaks (2300 and 2200 I think)...Views are stunning...The landscape is amazing...It's about 3 hours round trip.

For some nice 4,000 footers, try the Osceolas...It's moderate for the Whites compared to some of the tougher hikes...Good views....8-9 mile total.

The tripyramids were awesome too, but they are a bit longer a hike and a bit steeper on the ascent and descent, but it iss a loop...

hikethewhites.com has good decriptions of the mountains...And you can call me if you have any questions....

Thanks Jen!

You're a big help, I'll definitely be checking out the website too. I was doing google searches, and I came up with a few good sites. But not that one. I think I'll invest in a book too... so over the course of the nhext few years I can try different ones, and refer back.

The best investment you can make is the $10 map...We use that with trip reports online/mountain summaries. The map is available at all the ranger stations.
