It was good because I saved a shitload of money and when I did have a life, I was living comfortably and well. It kept me occupied and I got to travel heaps which was great. I "quit" after like three jobs... Never really liked it.

And walked into this awesome I.T. contract with Theiss who payed me large wads of cash to do some fairly simple software engineering.

I was somewhat lucky, inasmuch right place right time.

If you're serious find a new job. Don't just quit the old one.

Unless of course that you need starvation and homelessness as a motivation to look for work.

I'm with those two. Find something to go to before you quit. I just up and left at Big W and it took me forever to find something else, but then lack of motivation sets in really quickly when you're living at home still.

I was lucky, good full time work found me before I quit Loton's. I reckon I'd probably still be there if it didn't.

re: all those posts above, it's easy to say 'find something else first', but it's very difficult to do so when you're working those sorts of hours. it's a job that makes you tired all the time. ALL the time, even when it's quiet, because the hours are so fucking strange and the mornings are so early. i swore i would look for work for so long before i quit.

my sincere advice to you pat is to quit now, and give yourself a. the motivation and b. the time to take job hunting seriously. i imagine you have enough savings to last a little while while you sort out your new employment situation. also, you'll have a far more impressive resume than you did, say, 12 months ago.

but then, i said most of this last night.
