Two years

It's been two years since I've moved to Los Angeles. I can't say that I feel quite at home yet, but I'm definitely settled in. It's a nice area to live, but I don't think I could live hear forever. The people are too spacey and the traffic sucks. Traffic was moving at ten miles an hour last night at eight. Where the hell were all those people ( Read more... )

Ahh... LA. First of all, traffic does suck so you need to live in a strategic location. I lived in Hollywood for 7 years which worked out well because no matter where I worked, the traffic was always going the opposite direction. Also, it probably helped that I didn't have to be in work until 10 or 11am which helps a lot too.

But there's not many locations where you have almost year around summer. Last year in Ireland I had ONE WEEKEND of summer. It was a real nice weekend though :)

You also have to make sure you go to all the weird little places California has to offer. Catalina Island (sadly never got there), Venice (the Firehouse Cafe has the BEST pancakes), Magic Castle (I can tell you how to get an invite), Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles, Farmers Market on the weekends, blah blah. I miss feeling like there was always something new to explore.

What's your favorite spot in LA so far?

I think I'm definitely going to tend to gravitate towards the coast, either the hills over looking the water is secluded areas like just outside of Malibu, or above the neighborhoods of Pacific Palisades, and also the less crowded beaches when I actually do head to the shore, such as Marina del Ray and Dockweiler, though with the latter the planes are annoying. In this post I talked about a great Malibu Beach spot that I like to hang out at ( ... )

That is indeed the Firehouse... it's next to a gym so it's kind of this weird sushi bar/body builder eatery. Like you can get a Fettucini Omlette but it's great if your watching calories cause you can get all the veggies and meat you want in varying sizes. The pancakes are like a buckwheat healthy kind, but I swear they are the tastiest fluffiest pancakes you can eat. I used to eat there all the time because my boyfriend at the time lived right on the beach so it was close-by ( ... )
