Ehh yeah. My mom tried to watch the first Harry Potter with me when it first came out and they cut so much out....that she didn't understand it and I had to explain it to her.
OMG SAME THING HAPPENED WITH ME AND MY SISTER!!! its freakin ridiculous how much they leave out but that doesn't even bother me as much as when they actually CHANGE what happened in the book.
