I dare say critics said the same of Shakespeare's "majestic" etc. Standards have been falling since the dawn of man and we're all still here, though, so it can't be that bad.

Obviously, the sources consulted for inclusion in the English language fail to consult 4chan. Probably a good thing.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with the evolution of words, but the problem with n00b is that it has numbers in it, and I am not sure if that makes it a word. Noob would be ok, but wouldn't have the same effect.

Same kind of jazz with Web 2.0, except it is also a phrase I think.

I wonder what the definition of a word is? I need a copy of OED!

Word - noun: A single distinct meaningful element of speech or writing, used with others (or sometimes alone) to form a sentence and typically shown with a space on either side when written or printed. (OED, 2003)

Isn't that clear?

If "staycation" becomes a word, I will personally send Webster's a copy of their book covered in my own vomit.
