1.) I routinely scavenge the after Christmas sales until the inventory is cleared out, which is usually until a week after New Years. It irritates me that the cleared space is immediately filled with Valentine's Day merchandise. Is this the market at work? Are people really buying this stuff so early? That's any holiday too. I don't want to think about a holiday until a few weeks before.
2.) Both Valentines Day and Black History Month are in one of the two most miserable months, when people are sick of a season and have to wait and wait for the next. There's too much going on in the fall, so I vote they should move them to like April or May, after Easter, or maybe in between Mother's and Father's Day.
