Comedy in the midst of Sickness

I've been sick for three days, feverish, aches and pain and occasional chesty cough. Nothing out of the ordinary for the middle of Winter, until this morning. At 6am I had the sharp pain that tells me the penicillin is having dire consequences on my stomach. Staggered off to the toilet and sat down. Then had a coughing fit, tried to stand up and

Ooh, nasty! Lucky it wasn't worse. Imagine an ambulance crew trying to pick kitty litter out of a head wound :)

The coughing fit probably reduced the flow of blood to your brain, and if you were already light-headed, that'd be enough to do it... I remember asking my Human Development teacher about it in year 12 once when I noticed that you can get light headed after coughing hard. We assumed between us that the muscles tightening around the neck probably constricted the coroted (sp?) artery.
