Took Trudi to the airport in the morning. She's off to Varuna writer's centre for a couple of weeks.
Got home at 10:30 in time to meet the architect who was dropping off some plans. Seems that one of the guys had turned up to work on the laundry cabinets but couldn't get in so had left again. Bugger.

Life is definitely looking good at the moment. I'm starting to get the hang of the whole "not working and not looking for work either" thing. Trudi had a bit of trouble the other day with the backup of her latest novel. Somehow or other it looks like an older version was written over the latest version and a few thousand word were lost. My Aunt found 150 or so 78 records lurking in her garage that apparently belonged to my parents. At a guess somebody else dumped them on my parents as I don't recall them ever owning 78s. There's 30 or so religious records, about the same in mixed classical and the rest is popular music from the 40s and 50s, jazz, blues, crooners etc. There is all ( Read more... )

Went out and bought a new 320Gb hard drive to go in an external case. This will be the backup for my photos drive. It's bascially the only practical way of backing up this amount of data. I've still got to find a useful way of doing an incremental update, rather than just let it overwrite the contents each time. Cost of drive was just under $140 ( Read more... )

It's been nearly six months since I had the Commodore converted to LP Gas and (thanks to the $2000 grant) I've just about recovered the initial cost.

Prior to the conversion it was costing me 14c per km for fuel. Now it costs me 7.5 c per km, so the savings are failrly obvious. By comparison my old 1300cc Barina, which averaged 38 mpg, would pay 8. ( Read more... )
