Okay Paul, now I'm sure that you have some interesting, deep, dark secrets, your first paragraph wanted to spill, but you held it back...lol! You said something very interesting that I had to comment on: -"I feel there are some things one doesn’t share-not with your spouse, parents, and, for most of us, not even with our God. So, if you are hoping for some deep confessions, all I can say is that I don’t commit felonies nor am I a saint." -Right on Paul! I agree wholeheartedly that misplaced confession can be corrosive to a relationship if it's only purpose is to relieve your own guilt at the expense of another's peace of mind. Or, in its ugliest manifestation, confession can be a way to get back at that person in the guise of "honesty" I was guilty of that with my parents. In my marriage I've learned that often the best thing that I can do is refrain from too much talking. When you dissect a thing, by necessity you kill it. And as for God, in my belief system God already knows everything we do anyway and is probably much kinder and ( ... )

I think it is great that you are continuing to take classes. I want to be able to continue to take classes throughout my career. I was most interested in the last comments you made about getting a degree. I have been in Collage since 2000 and I have also been working. The reason I have not graduated is because life happened while I was a full time student. I have to work to support myself so I am going to school part time right now to gain more from the classes I take. The last few years have been a blur. I admire you for your hard work and dedication to your job and family. Your comment about getting a degree going to school part time will be my inspiration to be in the percentage of people that can do it! English has been a class that I have struggled with all my life. I am amazed with the people that are able to succeed when english is a second or third language. I look forward to your blogs the rest of the semester.

As an artist you probably know this but it's worth repeating. When Picasso was in Paris he was so broke that he had to choose between buying paint or food. He chose paint. I think getting a degree involves decisions like that. You might want to visit the financial aid office here to find out if you could work less, take loans this year and get financial aid next year. Anyway, it sounds like you are going to finish no matter what. And I totally agree with you that taking fewer classes allows you to learn more. For me, it meant getting better grades, too.

It's very nice to have you in the class, Paul. I'm also taking classes right now (as a student, of course), and it's an amazing feeling. Learning is wonderfully empowering and humbling, don't you think? Personally, I find myself examining processes and engaging in metacognition (thinking about thinking) while in class. In a way, the content has become the meal but I am far more fascinated by the meal's preparation. Does that make sense? Hopefully we'll discover an answer to this Q as the class goes on.

Your honesty throughout your intro is very much appreciated.

Mike

--When is our next ball game? I haven't played since our last tourney, so I may be in store for a "career ending" injury. yikes!

Thanks, Mike. Roger and I have been playing with other people from around campus on Fridays, at around 5:00 pm. It's usually a pretty good game. Hope to see you there. Paul

Wow, you really are an educator. Your work displays it in quality and quantity. I will look into those guareented loans and more. I will finish school. I must.

For me actually people settle for 8.50 USD per hour compared to making their potiential of 58.00 USD per hour. But I was actually wondering what job provides 17.00 USD per hour to an uneducated person? Of course I am not going to settle for that job or anything. But I do want something better than what I have. Maybe I could work less hours or something and you know better than I do, so, possible, could give me some suggestions. The best I can come up with is a Ten-Key operator who might make like 13.00 USD per hour.
