I'll look forward to seeing that bird a lot, since my backyard seems to have a lot of ants (or did last year anyway.)
Female, huh? That would imply, if this one has ever hatched any eggs, that it would be described as a motherflicker! And so I shall address her, if our paths cross again.
I wonder what the red patch is doing on the back of the head? Probably to frighten away predators who are afraid of red beaks.
