those orgs are funded by international orgs to lure americans from shopping, encouraging them to stay home so that the economy may worsen, lowering the value of the dollar. Then with a low dollar, those foreign firms can buy more and more american soil/industry.

So if we shop unecessarily we are part of the credit crunch problem (we don't save...we are a nation of debtors).....
We can't afford what we want because American companies drive down wages with cheap/foreign labor.....
Isn't it a fait accompli ?? If the dollar was strong we wouldn't have to worry about foreign ownership......Bad public policies = devalued dollar = foreign ownership.......
Its already ruined.....pauliebearsfNovember 24 2007, 00:27:14 UTC
...eight years of Bush in the White House should be evidence enough of that...... When is it patriotic to shop at 4 am ???
Are we a nation of consumer drones ??
How about this fair deal......I'll keep shopping for American goods if American companies promise to pay me a good wage with good benefits ... fair enough??? I think that's patriotic (instead of them trying to force me to buy imported overpriced crap from some unregulated country in order for them to get their holiday bonuses in Corporateland, USA)......
My company gave me a "blanket" with a logo for the holidays...Should I infer that they will be shutting the heat on us at work?? Or are they sympathetic to the cost of high oil prices to heat my home this winter (while they rake in the profits)....One can only wonder.....
Its a comment on rampid commercialism......pauliebearsfNovember 24 2007, 03:07:10 UTC
I like Christmas..I love gifts...I don't need to be hit over the head with Christmas right after Halloween....or with 4 am store openings...or deal with commuter traffic/lines because people have to shop....
I was at work the other day reading the "Sunday" paper on Wed (yes, I'm behind...blame law school) and one of my employees went nuts on me....asking me if they were the "circulars" for Black Friday.....
I mean...gimme a break..... Most people end up spending more than they plan (or do not plan for..using credit they don't have) anyway....
Then they wonder why they can't pay for their subprime mortgages, etc.....
Not bitter at all...just caught up in a recessionary downward spiral that's going to contract about $4 trillion out of this country's economy.... Oh well..cynical me...(grin) xoxoxooxxoxoxo
Do you ever get the feeling like we're at the 'eve of destruction'? That within a short amount of time American life as we know it will be turned upside down. ....Or do you think that's a crazy idea. Just wondering.
