Oh, my goodness. Without further ado, I'm posting now my

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
More than I realized at the time! Drove to Vegas w/ friends and all that included, got fired from a job, went to Denver PRIDE and all, painted a house, went to a concert solo, tried to snowboard a halfpipe, tried pot, buried 2 adopted pets, got a BA, played in multiple blizzards, went to a fucking awesome concert w/ all of my sisters, lost my father to CA, found my inner pirate, had an intense shopping phase, rode my scooter to campus- that's enough, now :)

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not anyone I talk to regularly, but Sandy's best friend Jackie conceived! Well, she and her hubby did. And the results are eagerly anticipated!!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Close in proximity, sure- the gerbil and mouse I took in. It was their time, we swears it on the precious!

5. What countries did you visit?
None :(

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
A job that pleaseth me. A bit of romance or a relationship or something. Travel opportunities.

7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
There are a few, but we'll go with Nov. 7th. That's when I drove to Boulder alone, saw Lady Sovereign in concert, and ending up hanging out with her and her crew afterward, which led to the Vegas trip and a whole lot of obsessing. Much appreciated times.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Socking it to the bastards what fired me by getting my own house to paint.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not investing as much time/effort as I should have into job searching, and the corresonding failure to get a job.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not anything memorable, thank god.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My wireless network adaptor. Like the One Ring, it was a tiny thing but so much of my life hinged upon its power. Also, I got compliments on all of my new shoes, some from someone who I think has THE coolest fashion sense, and that was pretty cool.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Pretty much all of my friends', although that isn't only for behavior as much as it is for being the great people they are and sticking with me despite my stupid habit of alienating myself. My family's half reliable, that's something, too.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Mine

14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent, CSU, food. I've been pretty boring this year.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Before I did all the stuff from #1, all of that. My friends. My apartment.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
Saturday Night Looks Good to Me- Since You Stole My Heart
Tegan and Sara- Where Does the Good Go?

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier?
no
ii. thinner or fatter?
I think the same
iii. richer or poorer?
poorer

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
General exercise, earning money.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Procrastinating, mess-making.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent Christmas with my sisters and Michael. It was awesome, again. Our good moments are worthwhile, for sure.

22. Did you fall in love in 2006?
No.

23. How many one-night stands?
None.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Firefly, maybe. Old Gilmore Girls seasons were a staple.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No. Followed closely by myself, sometimes.

26. What was the best book you read?
I don't know! I'll have to get back to that one.

27. What wa your greatest musical discovery?
Shiny Toy Guns, and Tegan and Sara if I didn't put that last year. STG are great but a fairly new discovery, but Tegan and Sara was a constant from the beginning, and a bit earlier.

28. What did you want and get?
A random road trip. I don't recall wanting specific things, really.

29. What did you want and not get?
A job. Or money, more like- job could've been an optional part of that equation :)

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Little Miss Sunshine, a lot of movies I saw w/ Shantel were good. I don't remember for sure, but that'll do.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 23, and I think I had two dinners again. One with the family, of course; any excuse to go to Great Wall Super Buffet you know :) And then some of my friends in FoCo took me out to Suehiro for sushi, which should totally be a tradition b/c it never fails to please. I had good sake and tried rainbow rolls for the first time, as well as stuff I wouldn't normally have gotten, like two tiny deep-fried-whole crabs, a fried-banana, green-tea ice cream sundae (sooo good!), and an entire ball of wasabi. It wasn't that bad, actually. I accidentally dropped my last rainbow roll piece into my water glass, prompting jokes about trying to resuscitate the fish/keep it as a pet, so I had to do something. So I went from being eccentric/silly to being hardcore in an instant. And I'm not sorry.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If the government had sent me a letter declaring that I am "too awesome to be held accountable for trivial matters such as student loans" so that I wouldn't have that negative association with being out of school.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Tried and true, with a measure of new. Lots of experimentation, an equal amount of lazy days in there. Approaching priority status, at times.

34. What kept you sane?
No measure of prevention could have been strong enough to keep me sane, but thoughts of my friends and Trinity brought me back.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Lady Sovereign, a few figures from NPR. Pretty quiet on the celebrity-fancying front in '06, until the home stretch :)

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
George Bush, church/state separation, the war in Iraq.

37. Who did you miss?
Anna, Shantel, my sisters, Anna, Cristina, Anna, Shantel.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Meghan, better still because many cool folk come along with her.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
Nothing in particular strikes me, which might be why I'm not as happy as last year. Maybe something about how important self-expression could be to me, and that I should engage in it more.

40. Quote a lyric that describes your life in 2006:
"I've been trying to nod my head but it's like I've got a broken neck"
- Rilo Kiley, "More Adventurous"
. I've had it ready for so long, and then when I finally resigned myself to posting it on the same day as I had last year, my computer totally died on me. Hooray for finised business!

In other news, I have remedied my unemployment. In fact, I have two jobs; one of which I apparently had all last year without knowing it- the Living Sign position. I was never teminated, although I didn't get any assignments from them since Spring 2005, most likely because I hadn't told them my availability, because I thought I didn't work there anymore. So technically I'll have been employed there for 3 years, come the end of March. I said I was available this weekend but they have't called, thank god, b/c I don't really want to freeze my ass off. I might, though.

My other job is with a housekeeping service, and will include both cleaning houses and working at the office. So I hope there'll be enough variety there to keep me happy for a while. I started on Wednesday, and they have me waking up at hours when I would have been just heading for bed two weeks ago. It's been hard adjusting. In fact, I have to wake up in 6 hours for what is supposed to be a grueling day, so I should probably go to sleep like right now. I wanted to shower, too. Oh well. G'night!
