The Autumn Story.

Jan 09, 2009 19:02

So apart from this being half an excuse not to do a proper update I thought it was a good, fun idea since most stories that enter my head nowadays come in spurts and almost never have an ending unless I really make an effort. This is the result of one such inspirational spurt. We knew not where it was going nor where it was headed nor even where it ( Read more... )

I'm glad to see that you are updating! And, with a story as well.:) I love it!
The moleskin journal sounds delightful. I love how they feel!

Yes, it is indeed annoying the have a book constantly closing on you!:P I would imagine that it wears better too! I take it that you have started to write in your lovely moleskin journal then?:)

Right now my first thoughts are no, but then there are second thoughts that lead to an "I don't know" answer. Perhaps! I haven't really had any "official" comments on the story to give me an idea of what people think when they read it, to point me in the right direction with it. [Is it worth continuing or not ? etc etc.] Any comments from you or Dee Dee would especially be welcome since I respect both your writing ability's. ;) Really, it was written with every next word off the top of my head pretty much. Kinda just happened. It was a creative outlet, like I said.

To leave it or continue it....Dunno(???)

P.S You could help me finish it or add to it if you were interested. :D (It just came to me. Feel completely free to say no too).

I reckon if you feel like continuing the story, by all means go for it! I don't know if I am really qualified to give any advice, however I guess I can share some stuff that's helped me. One of the most vital things I've learnt through creative and essay writing is that less is ALWAYS better. Keep your writing simple. You have lovely imagery and a poetic mind but sometimes that is lost through excessive detail and description. Keep adjectives to a minimum, so that those you use really stand out and work to enhance the details of the people and the places that you're writing about.
Also, READ! When you're reading great stuff, you can't help but be inspired, and I really believe that your own style both improves and develops as a result of imbibing others'.

I heard some advice similar to your own not long ago (I can't recal where) but thank you ever so much, I see what your saying and I agree.
I was going for a bit of a Melina Marchetta wordy, dream like feel/quality so that's why it was rather overly adjective and unusual. :)

Totally true about reading. I admit I do not do enough of it (fic-non-fic-novel/bigraphy books) now days with study and just life in general. I don't remember the last time I sat down all cozily with a free mind to read a good book. *sigh* I will have to make it more of a habit.
