So I apologize for just being LJ absent. I actually am reading posts from time to time but on a smartphone my abilities to type out a response that doesn't look like DLSKJDDS":JDD:J is impossible ( Read more... )

Dreamwidth got a huge influx of LJ roleplayers (who left in a very ugly wave of drama), but there aren't many active communities for things other than roleplay. I think people are just leaving journal-style blogging in favor of tumblr/twitter/facebook/plurk/etc. The ones who still blog are using sites like wordpress which I suppose offer a certain "professionalism" and "personal branding" that derpy old LJ doesn't have, but there really isn't a sense of community. Like you said, it's all about amplification. And self-gratification.

Hm. I can't even remember what was going on back then but weren't there issues around censorship/spying/copyright going on? I noticed that Scans Daily left LJ (sadly) and yet never seems to have regained their momentum ( ... )

Forgive me because I'm so out of touch with what's happening. It might be a stupid question, but is your work published, like hitomi's? :)

I haven't been posting in LJ all that much now, mostly because I don't really have anything to say that might be worthwhile (and when I do, I tend to keep it private). Or maybe I don't feel like blogging at length since it seems most of my friends have stopped using LJ (mainly because life got in the way). Few people get to read, much less comment on, my entries.

I still check my friends' (the few that still post) entries every day. I just don't get to comment often, though.

Re. Tumblr: that's true, isn't it? I like it because it's a way to share things that inspire me, and I'm not obliged to talk about myself. >D The funny thing is I just recently learned (because I don't always keep track) I now have more than 2K followers as of this writing-way more than Twitter, FB, and LJ combined.

It's still being published on the website serially (http://talesofthebigbadwolf.com). Eventually I want to do an ebook compilation (probably with some illustrations if I can make myself do high quality b/w ones). Print may be out of my grasp depending on how long the edited version is. If it gets beyond 300 pages I'm in serious trouble .. it becomes prohibitive to print and sell D ( ... )

Good to hear from you again.

I completely agree about Tumblr. It's nice for visual things but it's very superficial. It's not a place to connect, merely to be ostentatious. That's fine once in a while, but far from an ideal online community.

It's a good place to collect/follow fandom and art I guess. But it's pretty much a quickie xD
