I'm not a big fan of roundabouts either. I've never driven through one, but I know that as a pedestrian they can be a big inconvenience. A couple of towns that I visited in Australia were full of roundabouts, and I'd have to go half a block down a street I didn't want to go down, just to get across the intersection. I didn't feel safe crossing right at the intersection because I couldn't figure out which direction the cars were going in.
Yes thats another problem with the area, there are no paths for pedestrians to walk on so they either have to walk on the grass at the side or on the road itself. Doesnt seem very safe at all particularly given the volume of traffic and pedestrians around there.
