I hope that Sophia Coppola's new movie is as great as the trailer makes it look. I found an article in some livejournal community that was really interesting. It's an interview done in French and then translated (rather poorly) into english. Or maybe it was initially conducted in english and then translated to french and back to english again. i

i agree with everything you said. i hate when people bash on sofia coppola, because it's so obvious that she has talent. just because it's not your bag, baby, don't come crying to me about how you don't understand this or get that, or like style, etc. sofia coppola's films are, if nothing else, consistent in their subject matter and tone (i'm factoring in marie antoinette here as well, since it seems very much like a natural progression for her), which is a lot more than other 'directors' have going for them. like it or not, sofia coppola is the new american art-house cinema. she is the closest thing we have to the next jim jarmusch and his ilk
