Ianto blinked as he paused in the doorway of the kitchen, considering Ace's reaction for a moment. She had said she needed to think about things, and Ianto had not seen her since then, so it was entirely possible that she did not want to see him at all.
But then, she wasn't running for the door, which was always a good sign. "I'm fine," he answered, walking into the room. "How are you then?"
Ace flushed redder. "Alright. I mean, quite alright." She looked over at him, and there was something in her expression. An almost... shyness. "Glad you're alright. I mean. Good." She made a face, and laughed just a bit. "I do say alright quite a bit, don't I?"
She moved to scrub out the coffee pot. "Someone left it to burn - If you want to make more, it'll be clean in a minute." She was more... talkative.
"Yes, you do," Ianto agreed, a bit slowly as this was a change in behavior from her and he wasn't quite sure what to make of it, but also with a faint half-smile. It seemed a good change, but then, Ianto had learned to never trust how things seem.
He moved wordlessly to the pantry to fetch the coffee grinds, then set the on the counter, where he paused again to watch her. "So you did your thinking?" he asked cautiously.
Ace was looking down into the pot, her cheeks pink as she scrubbed. "Yeah. I... I thought, and-" She looked over at him. "Not done yet, but it's working itself out." She used a little more elbow grease, trying not to look at him over her shoulder.
"All works itself out, though, doesn't it? I mean. Usually, I suppose." She finally got the last of the baked sludge out, and turned with a smile. "All clean now." She filled it with water, and put it into the back of the machine. "You'd not really think that there was much to making a cup of coffee - what with the 'you pour water in' bits, but mine tastes like absolute rubbish."
