Ianto had been absorbed in his reading of the Bobbi Jones anthology the Doctor had given him, perhaps with something particular in mind, which might explain why he didn't notice Ace immediately.
"Hello," he greeted, a slight smile on his face despite her expression. His brow did wrinkle a little, but not much. It wouldn't do to have Ace think she was troubling him. He sat up from his bed, marking his page and setting the book aside. "You alright, Ace?"
She hesitated, and her brow actually furrowed as she tried to find the right words. Not untruthful words, but ones that didn't make it off to be that she was looking for pity or whatnot.
"I'm.... I'm alright. Mostly." She smiled some, then chewed on her lip some more. "Can I ask you for some advice? Bloody stupid, it is, but... still."
"Of course you can," Ianto responded, nodding to the open space of bed beside him. "You always can. And I'm sure it's not stupid, if it has you worried."
She folded herself at the end of his bed, staring at her toes as she tugged her knees up. "What do you think about Jack?" She looked back over at him, not really even acknowledging the fact that he said that things that worried her weren't stupid.
She was rather singularly minded, at the moment, and this was- well. "I mean- Anyway."
