I so enjoyed meeting your grandparents a few years back. Such sweet people! I figure such a lovely man has gone somewhere quite delightful and it's good that he didn't suffer a long slow death as a result of terminal cancer. Going quick is a mercy for him, if awfully damned hard on everyone who misses him like crazy. Give your grandmother a hug for me, not that she'd remember me after all these years.
Sorry, too, to hear of your ill health. I hope you truly are better now and it's not something that will come back someday to bite you!
Growing old isn't a whole lot of fun unless one retains a very strong sense of humour! I'll be getting my fourth joint replacement in the next year (this time the right knee). LOL, I'm becoming bionic, one joint at a time!
Good luck getting all that work done this weekend! Sometimes a deadline is all that we need to just focus and rip right through it! So glad, though, that you had a chance to see Man of Steel! Sounds like it was just what you most needed. ::hugs::
Awww, thank you, Artemis! You are very sweet to say so. I hope to be around a bit more this summer, and get to read and post and maybe even actually do a bit of writing again.
Oh, gosh, it's so good to finally hear from you again after so long! I have thought about you recently and wondered if you had just left lj or lacked time for the social media sites; I didn't want to think that anything bad might have happened to you. I'm so sorry about your health woes and the surgery; sounds serious and scary, and I pray you have a complete and very swift recovery. My condolences on the loss of your grandfather; my children lost their grandfather (my ex-husband's father)last Saturday and his funeral was two days ago, and I know how difficult it is to lose a beloved grandparent. Their grandad had Parkinson's and that led into Alzheimer's, and he just kept going downhill till my ex mom-in-law couldn't care for him any longer. He was only in the nursing home for about 3 weeks before he passed away, and even though all 3 of my kids are in their 20's, it was very emotional for them to lose their grandfather. (My dad died when I was only 4 so they never knew their maternal grandfather at all.)My heart goes out to you, I
( ... )
Oh, Nerthus, it's so good to communicate with you again, too! Thank you so much for responding to my post; it's so good to know some of my old flist are still out there. (I was away from LJ so long, I'm afraid I got de-friended quite a bit.)
Good to hear how you've been doing yourself, and your daughter.
Thank you for your kind words too, and for understanding that special bond one can have with one's grandparents.
Glad you enjoyed Star Trek - I loved it and thought Benedict did a wonderful job. Definitely go see "Man of Steel"!
And great advice about listening to your mind and body - once I get through the rest of this term/academic year, I will hopefully have a bit of time to do just that.
I'm so sorry to hear of your Grandad's passing. (((((hugs))))) for you and your mom and Grandma. It's so hard to lose the ones we love but know he is watching down over you and smiling with love.
And thank you very much for your sweet words. *hugs*
I do believe he is still with us, and is free from pain and suffering, and I am glad of that. But it doesn't take away all of the grief, or how much I miss him.
So lovely to hear from you, and I hope you yourself are well.
*so many hugs* I'm so glad Superman could be there for you again, Pax! It sounds like you definitely need some goodness and light in your life right now. My thoughts are very much with you!
