I had an interesting run in with a guy on the bus last night. He was very insistant on giving me his phone number and didn't seem to care whether I would call him or not. He told me lots of things but all I remember is about Dave Matthews and how much weed he smoked that day (but smoking is not a regular thing, he insisted). He walked me half- ( Read more... )

it was really nice seeing you at the show, but we sort of got lost from each other, which sucked. the music was amazing, as i expected, and i thought his issues with the alcohol thing were funny the first couple of times he mentioned it. however, after the 14th mention of it, it began to wear very, very thin. ugh. i hope you are well.

You're right. It was kind of funny the first few times, but the constant disrespect was so annoying. I think the rest of the crowd felt the same way in their awkward silence and no response whenever he mentioned something about it.

It was good to see you, too! We did get lost, I got pulled up to the front with my friend so I could get a good smell of the bands gross BO. I can't wait to see Ghosts and Liars in real life, I really like what I am hearing. I can't believe you are playing CMJ, that's so great for you!

you're quite kind. i'm very excited and very nervous about nyc. we will probably have something going on in december in seattle, so we will have to hang out. i hope that none of the BO rubbed off on you...ewwwwww. some singers should just shut up. as ava gardner said to frank sinatra, "frank, you sing beautifully...why can't you JUST sing?"

I think Josh is right that he clearly has some authority issues. It is worth noting, though, that he also lives in New York now, where we don't have nearly the draconian liquor law madness that is in Seattle. Having moved here from there, I too get pretty irritated when I get carded every single f-ing place I go. Yeah, I don't keep talking about it, but I also don't have a microphone when I'm out in Seattle. If I did, I might not shut up. The enforcement in Washington is insane. It can't be just the laws--it's also the attitude of establishments.

Beirut are pretty big here--their first show ever was at the Knitting Factory and I think it sold out. A short while later they played NorthSix, which I believe also sold out. I think they are unbelievably talented, and I am quite willing to forgive a little petulance. He is, after all, only 20. When I was 20 I was at the UW, and . . . um . . . hanging out with my friends.
