When you call your movie "The Last Stand" you don't leave a lot of wiggle room for sequels

Writing this review now is foolish, since I have to be in Richmond tomorrow at 9am, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed to meet with the Manager of Wireless sales in Western Canada and all the managers from my area. This currently leaves me with about 6 hours of sleep, but the movie is fresh in my mind, so review. Complete side note: they promoted me to ( Read more... )

The more I read the spoilers, the more I don't feel like I want to watch this movie. The only thing going for it right now is, in fact, the absence of Gambit. Why? Because from the way it sounds like they've cocked it all up with the other characters I think I'd have to send death threats if they'd done the same to Remy. Can you tell he's my favourite character? Like, EVER?

Jean Grey dies? Again? *yawn* No. Didn't see that one coming./end sarcasm

If I could write the oft-touted Wolverine script, I'd have wanted to bring back Cyclops and toss Emma Frost into the mix too. But that would only really work well if they'd gone with your suggestion and had Scott kill Jean. Plenty of angst and anger and recriminations and inappropriate feelings in that triangle... Hmmm. Okay, maybe not summer blockbuster material but I'd have liked it.

Also? Gambit MUST be in the Wolvie film. Gotta be. I like Hugh Jackman but he wasn't enough to make me go see Van Helsing. I want to see characters that I care about. And a hint of flirtatious ( ... )

You're totally right. Gambit needs to be in a Wolverine sequel. I'm glad Jean is dead, because she's always been the most boring character for me. MarySue :P

Cyclops does need to be back. His death in the movie sucked ass. It was so random and pointless.

Some should have been there because I made it QUITE CLEAR that I would be upset if they were not (Gambit).

Amen, to that sister. 3 movies and he's still not in there? For shame.

I know! I'm making my own Last Stand: Gambit in the next movie! I WILL find the producers and cry at them if he's not there.

The only reason I didn't leave in the middle of that movie is because I love X-Men with all my heart and soul. So many things about it made me angry ( ... )

Yeah, the plot change for Jean Grey/Phoenix was a bit of a put off, but I realize that "split personality" is easier to explain to the general public than "possesed by an alien being, killed, later ressurected after alien being is killed, wait, no, REAL Jean in a stasis pod at the bottom of the ocean..." and so forth. Split personality is kinf of a crappy explanaition, but it's also way shorter. I don't know why they even bothered trying to do Phoenix, let alone Dark Poenix. It needs a TV show season, not a 2 hour movie ( ... )
