SUPERNATURAL!

I keep falling asleep on the couch... I can't make it through a full movie without zonking out and waking up 3 hours later. BUT, although I KO'd for a good portion of the day, I managed to buy the National Park Pass online. One step closer to the Road Trip... :D

Anywho, this week's Supernatural...

So, OBVIOUSLY Sammy had to come back. It's not like you can kill off 50% of the show's stars and hope to have the show continue. And considering how many people died in the last 2 episodes (AAANNNDY!!!), they can't afford to lose Sammy.

That being said, I couldn't stop telling Kirsty that I thought Sammy was actually dead. I knew he wouldn't stay that way (did I read the plot summary on IMDb while at work? Obviously. As soon as I saw 'Deal Making Demon' as a listed character, I knew what would happen), but I was still worried they might Patrick Swayze Sam and have some strange Dean-hunts-Sam-has-visions-as-a-ghost thing... which would suck. I should have more faith, but bear in mind, I was a VMars fan.

Overall I was not terribly surprised by the episode, but I did enjoy it. I'm happy that there wasn't a huge cliffhanger this season. There's stuff for the next season (100s of demons, Sammy's new psycho attitude, Dean's 1 year to live, the whole Mummy Winchester KNOWS THE DEMON thing), but they didn't potentially kill all the Winchesters like last year. I felt more anticipation for tonight's ep than I do for next season. That sounds bad, which I don't intend. I am very excited for new episodes in the fall, but I'm not throwing things at the TV screaming, "OMG, YOU BASTARDS!!! WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!!" I like that.

Things I was less than thrilled with... Well, there was quite the flaw in Mr. Colt's plan. Why put a DOOR on the gate to Hell? Also, why make the key to said door the same thing that kills demons? Not so much with the thinking, Colt. If I was closing off the gate to Hell I'd build a giant WALL of iron with no key or hinges or ways for cunning demons to choreograph Highlander-esque battle royals so they could get inside my giant Devil's Trap. I'd also make more bullets for the gun. I'm just sayin'.

I was sad to see the Yellow-Eye'd Demon go. He was fun. I know they had to get rid of him eventually, but I wish he'd had a little more screen time before getting hit in the shoulder heart.

What I really liked about this season? The story arc of Dean's intense self-loathing. It was set up from the beginning of the season, and was well placed in so many episodes. I especially loved seeing Dean's opinion of himself in the Djin episode. I mean, everyone thinks he's a thieving drunk... where could the Djin get that idea if not from Dean.

I also love watching the sibling relationship between Sam and Dean. After the many road trips my family and I went on, I really love seeing the bickering and the ways the brothers look out for each other. Every time Sam and Dean have a dumb fight or name-calling war I think back to the many times I've had that exact fight with my brother. Memories... *g*

All in all, I liked Season 2. I will need to have a grand re-watch once it all comes out on DVD, however. I'm still not letting go of my theory that the demon was Sam's father in some way. I know that we can pretty much put a headstone over that theory, but... Darth Vader! I'm holding on to the Star Wars idea. Until I know HOW Mary knows the demon I'm clinging onto hope.
