Family History: When James and Lily were killed by Voldemort, Harry was sent to live with the Dursleys. He considers his friends his family rather than this blood relations. In addition to the Weasleys, Harry considers Hermione and Teddy Lupin (born May 1998) his family. Harry spends as much time with Teddy as possible.
Background
Role During the War: Spent most of the last year looking for Horcruxes with Ron and Hermione, then participated in the final battle at Hogwarts and finally defeated that nasty Voldemort, with help of course... couldn't have done it without help, and came back from the dead...
In the Past Year: Harry has spent the last year living at Grimmauld Place, which he has attempted to fix up and make livable. He has been preparing to take NEWT examinations along with the current 7th year students. In his determination to become an Auror, Harry has been studying (Charms, Potions, Transfiguration, Defense, and Herbology) and working towards an apprenticeship with the Ministry of Magic. He hopes to start an apprenticeship after his NEWT examinations are over. Harry has been social, though he has largely refrained from the romantic or dating scene. Harry has been more concerned with his future and finding the place where he belongs in a world where Voldemort no longer exists as his nemesis.
Future Plans: Work with the Ministry becoming an Auror and hoping to improve both the Auror program within the Ministry and help Hogwarts find some kind of capable and consistent Defense professor.

He and Ginny realised that they were better off friends, at least for the time being, and that they should instead focus on getting their lives straightened out and dealing with the results of the War before being in a relationship with anyone, even each other. It doesn't necessarily mean that they won't ever be together, but just that the timing was off and they've needed a break to sort things out.
