The Things He Can't Be

Sep 05, 2008 23:16

He stood, staring out into the pitch black night. His mind was somewhere else, as was often the case anymore. His thoughts stretched out into the night, rolling from one thing to the next as if free from the constraints of logic and time. These were the moments he felt most at peace. When he let go and nothing mattered.

He felt more than heard her ( Read more... )

haha, I do what I can.

Part of the reason I love the paring is because of that tension and pull between them for all the stuff they've been through.

Okay, okay, the chemistry issue, I can kinda agree on her side...but have you SEEN the way he looks at her?! Specifically in the end of the episode before Fallen Woman (the name escapes me right now) when they're having "the conversation". I have to admit, my heart goes pitter patter every time. Guh. Go watch now!

Oh, and you are dirty. (It's only okay if the handcuffs are furry). Tee hee.

Thanks for your comments...let's see who can I write next to challenge your beliefs...hmmm...

Ha! Yes, I agree about that ep, in her office at night. That gives me butterflies, the way he looks at her. Sooooo sexy! Yes, I agree. I think that the chemistry oozing from him is sometimes enough for both of them, and that's a case in point, that scene.

And, dirty? Nah, me? Nah. (Though I hardly see Charlie carrying furry handcuffs.)

Yaaay! Implication of more fic to come? Please write more! YAAAY!

Oh there's always more fic to come...it's just a matter of when it actually occurs to me matching up with when I have enough time to sit down and write it...

mmmm, on screen chemistry...gotta love it! If you love onscreen chemistry, then you really should watch The Office...just for Jim and Pam...cause...GUH! Talk about rip-your-heart-out chemistry/angst (especially first and second season, though third season also has a respectable amount of angst). Mmmm. Love it.

Anyway, enough rambling...gotta go write...or something.

I don't know about the rest of the fandom, but I actually really like Connie/Charlie, because of things like this:

She had seen parts of him that he had never revealed to anyone. She saw the despair and what it had done to him; how it had ripped him apart.
...
Together they had made each other the best version of themselves.

The depth and intensity of the history between the two of them is astounding, and I wish more fics would explore it. :) It actually seems like something that fics could do better than the show has been doing.

So, I really liked this! I could totally see all of it happening, Constance being in drunken denial of her divorce papers, and Charlie being sympathetic but not what she wants him to be. It's sad how, after years of working towards a common goal, they're now at cross-purposes in terms of what they need from one another.

Yessss! Someone else who doesn't think Connie/Charlie is crazy! (You made my day for the record!)
I think there is SO MUCH POTENTIAL for massive fic writing on this topic. But then again, the whole show is fodder for great fic writing opportunities (why I love it so).

It's sad how, after years of working towards a common goal, they're now at cross-purposes in terms of what they need from one another.

So true! Isn't sad how we've all kinda been there before...*angst-ridden sigh*

Thanks so much for your comments!!

I have to be honest: I TRYED hard to read it but my Reese side aimed her gun at me.
I can't. I simply cannot read your (I suppose beautiful) fic.
SORRY. I didn't think I'm so "close-minded". Maybe I'll try later.

Haha, oh citosol, you make me giggle.
By no means would I want to put you in bodily harm from the Reese side of yourself (I'm sure she's scary as hell when she's pissed!). So, fair enough. :-)

Ooooh, but Connie dying would be such a great avenue to pursue...thanks for the idea! ;-)

Now please don't go boil yourself in a vat of oil or anything for inadvertently having a really good Connie/Charlie plot idea...I mean, I know the self-loathing a torture is kinda Dani's thing, but YOU CAN STILL WALK AWAY! (I won't tell Reese if you won't.)

;-)

But seriously, thanks for trying anyway. :-)

Don't worry, I will. I'll try to make it something more palatable next time around...

So. Ouch. Poor Connie. Poor Charlie. Poor everyone.

Also, I agree with 15lbpurebunny on how could she not just fall in love with Charlie? Hell, we're all in love with Charlie, aren't we? God knows Charlie changed me to over to the ginger love.

She smiled and winked at him. He didn’t return her smile. He knew the pain of rejection and failure that accompanied receiving unexpected divorce papers. She was hiding behind the thin veil of alcohol and feigned joy, but he knew her anguish better than she did. Just rip out everyone's hearts and stomp on them, okay?

No seriously, the emotion in this is dead on and I loved it. I love Connie hiding with alcohol and Charlie realizing he has to help her but not be involved with her.

Is Connie even going to be in the new season? I want Charlie/Connie. The are angsty and forbidden. Mmmmm.

Mmmm, stomping on hearts...own it. love it. write it.

...that should like be a slogan or something...

For the record, so good to have you back reading and writing again...your comments always bring an extra special smile to my face...though sometimes that smile might be goofy...not that you'd know anything about what that looks like...

oh, and Germany is lame, especially with their lack of internet and shit. Don't they know that there are people dying to read and write here?! Jeez! :-)

You've done such a wonderful job of conveying the unspoken emotions here, from both Connie and Charlie. And yet, as I finished this up I couldn't help but feel sad, not just for Connie, but for Charlie, who's convinced he has a lot of burdens that he has to carry alone, and face alone. I think that if he follows that 'solo' path he'll find himself far worse off from an emotional standpoint ( ... )

Thanks! I'm so glad you enjoyed this! And I'm glad to hear there are more Connie/Charlie fans than I thought!

I think there's a real danger for Charlie to feel and act alone (Fill It Up anyone?!) and I think it'll be a really interesting progression to get him to where he's not always acting alone. Something about being in solitary for that long kinda isolates you and your thinking from the world outside (now THERE'S a hefty fic).

Call me old fashioned, but I don't think I could really write a Connie/Charlie romance unless she was divorced. There's just something about going down that road that I don't even want to touch. Again, call me old fashioned....but perhaps I could come up with something post divorce papers...hmmm...

Yay! Beta! Thanks for the offer! I might just take you up on that!

Thanks again for reading, I really enjoyed your comments!

Oh I absolutely agree. I think that even if Connie's got those divorce papers in her hand, I really can't see Charlie seriously romancing Connie until the divorce is finalized.
