This was excellent! And oh, these poor boys! I love the realism of the car ride interspersed with memories of the foster parents. Very in character voices, too!

How well you've painted the pre-series brothers here! Their back story always fascinates me and we never have been shown more than a couple of brief glimpses of their younger years. So this made reading this beauty a genuine treat.

You really have got their voices absolutely right and their attitudes too; Lincoln's love for his brother but his guilt for resenting he has the responsibility for him when he's not much more than a kid himself. And Michael's problems with low self-worth. That made me feel very sad, particularly when they were being driven away from Mrs Nikolaidis...I had a lump in my throat it was such a heartbreaking loss for poor Michael. He really did deserve someone as wonderful as her to take care of him.

I could go on and on about all the incidents and events you covered here and the perfect interaction between them but there is so much of it LJ will tell me I've exceeded the maximum length for a comment!

Suffice to say I loved it very much and your writing is fantastic. Thank you!

I loved the characterization of the teenage brothers. And what a perfect setting for it, the dreaded trip to the shrink! :)

The ending was painful. How little value the young Michael sees in himself. Great exploration of these characters.
