Isn't giving the right change the greatest feeling in the world? I was just at PCC and spent $11.09. I gave her $21.09. I got a crisp $10 back. I was flying high. Elated. Earlier today, at the Taco place, I sufficiently fandangled my changering so that I was returned .37c - knowing that I had to buy a stamp at reception desk later! That is ( Read more... )

i love that shit, too. in fact, i collect change for a few days on purpose just so i can have a few days of exact change, or near exact change as the case may be. the fewer coins wins.

sometimes my exact changing confuses them.

and then i'm sad for at least 10 seconds.

I agree with both of the above. But, you know what the worse case scenario is? When you miscalculate, (damn sales tax!), or you get flustered palming through your change whilst they stand for 20 seconds, dumbfounded that you wont break into a five, so you give up. THEN, you are left with both your original change and the NEW change and you broke into a crispy note.
