Dang gummit!

Really frustrated that my 24 year old niece is getting job interviews up the wazoo. Shee-it. Of course, she hasn't had any actual job offers yet, but you can't get an offer without an interview. Can they tell that she is young and beautiful just by her resume?

Dunno - but is it possible that she's using more tech-savvy techniques? More email inquiries, checking out job openings mentioned on Facebook or thru LJ ( ... )

I wish I had ANY game/programming experience! Man, they are hiring designers and coders like cah-ray-zee! I follow Mistress Mousey on Twitter (she's an industry headhunter, mostly for Gazillion in the Bay Area) and she posts dozens of openings each week.

Tell me about it. I have a lot of chums out of work right now - and other friends posting about job openings for really fiddly exacting tech jobs.

However the Aeria jobs listing appears to want =
# Bi-lingual Spanish Production Assistant
# Associate Producer (Santa Clara - CA, Berlin - Germany)
# Producer (Santa Clara - CA)
# Game Master (Day, Swing, Graveyard Shifts)
# Sr. Infrastructure Engineer
# Systems Administrator (Berlin - Germany)
# GRAPHIC DESIGNER
# Senior Quality Assurance
# Online Marketing Manager

... and the descriptions of the various producer/manager jobs doesn't require 'mad tech skillz'. So it should be worth checking out. [And it would be nifty to have you work at someplace I play ^_^]

I'm staring at the resume today wondering where to start. I think I stretched my "summer off" as much as I could. This is not encouraging, is it? But you KNOW if the niece is getting interviews, those places are looking...if they pass on her, maybe you can slip in a better-experienced option.

Also, heartily approve of listening to Rush.

Sweet niece lives in Lompoc. One of the interviews was in Santa Barbara, both hundreds of miles from here. So, thank goodness, although we seem to have the same qualifications, we're not competing for the same jobs!
