I had heard of colostrum, but totally forgot about it in this instance. Luckily, she's free-flowing now and we've dodged other serious circumstances. He's made it to ten days and looked pretty chipper when I left. I'm falling in love with the little guy. I've only held babies that small like...twice in my life. I'll try to get some pictures up soon.
Births and babies

In the middle of one night I was called to a village where a woman was having a troubled labor. The midwife was dressed in earrings and nothing more. The baby was half in and half out, cold and dead. Most of the men were gathered across the village arguing and most upset that the nurse and the preacher had been called. When women think the baby or young child isn't eating enough they "stuff" them by pouring food into their mouths. Pat B

The stuffing is something that's...horrifying to hear about but I'd never seen it, especially not on a child this young. He seems to be doing okay now, though, but it was just...it's really hard sometimes to sit back and watch, being unable to say anything.
