A young purple haired girl smiled at the people passing by as she made her way to the house she shared with her sisters. Her name was Rose, and she was the summer butterfly. Her soft rainbow wings folded gently behind her back as she made her way inside the spacious house on a particuarly fluffy cloud. Laughter could be heard from the large living area as a blast of slightly frigid air swirled around in the warm climate. Rose stepped into the room and shook her head with a sigh which sent her light purple hair flying aorund gently. Her two younger sisters were playing on the game console that had been a gift from Him, sending snow and leaves at each other in an attempt to make them divert their attention away from the game. Kristina was sitting quietly in an overstuffed red armchair, reading a book while sending slight glares at the two quarreling on the floor. Rose stepped over to her and sat down on the nearby couch. "Remind me again why we have that stupid machine thing."
"Because you have such an intrest in the human contraptions down below. the Heavenly Lord knew that and decided to reward you for your hard work during this season." Kristina promptly replied, shutting the cover of her book and setting it aside. "How was your day Rose?"
"It was alright. The northern hemisphere looked a little cold, so I upped the heat. I love summer." Rose giggled loudly.
"Yes, we all know you do. Do remember that tommorow you have to let Lyric take over."
"But why can't we let summer stay for a while longer?" Rose whined.
"Because dear, you know how whiny your sister gets when your late giving her her seasonal time." Kristina replied, standing up gracefully. She leaned over and hugged her purple haired sister, "Be patient. Tommorow you can make the top half of the world as hot as you want it."
Rose's purple hued eyes danced, "As hot as I want, really?"
"Within reason, yes."
"Aw, that means no higher than 105." Rose pouted.
"That's right. Now, what do you want for dinner?"
"Um, may I skip dinner Krissy? I'm not that hungry." Lily asked softly as she pulled on her sister's sleeve gently.
Kristina shook her head, "No Lily, you know that I won't allow you to skip dinner. You have to eat, regardless of how hungry you are. I won't make you eat much, but you have to eat something."
"Yes Krissy. I love you!"
The last girl rolled her eyes and stood up, cutting off the game she and Lily had been playing. "You love everyone shorty."
"Lyric, I'm not short! I'm just height challanged!" Lily pouted and whined. Her snow white angel wings fluttered angrily as she turned around and marched up the stairs to her room.
Kristina shot a glare at Lyric, "Go upstairs and apologize right now. You will not come back down until you've apologized nicely."
Lyric grumbled and stalked up the stairs with her yellow and gold wings fluttering.
Kristina rolled her eyes and hugged Rose tightly, "Sometimes I'm glad your not like those two. I couldn't handle being the only sane one in this household."
Rose smiled and hugged her back, "Don't I know it. Come on, I'll help you with dinner. I have something to ask you anyway."
"And that would be?"
They parted and began walking to the kitchen. "Well, I've been thinking about why the Lord won't let us go down to earth."
Kristina stopped in her tracks, "You what? Are you crazy?! You didn't go down there did you?"
"No No! I'm only curious! I've watched them from the looking glass out back, and the people down there don't look so bad. Why aren't we allowed down there? There has to be some reason."
"It is because God wishes it. You are not to go against Him, do you understand that? I could not bear it if you were banished and sent there to live out a normal human life." Kristina almost shouted.
"But, why? They don't look so bad!"
Kristina's honey brown eyes hardened slightly and she stared straight ahead at the wall in front of her. "You will not go look in the looking glass again, do you understand me? I don't want you thinking like that again, let alone asking such a question."
"But-"
"No! You will not say another word! Go to your room now. I will send one of the other two to fetch you for dinner. You will not come down except for meals and to tell me that you are going to bed. This punishment will last for a week."
"You can't do that!" Rose shouted in outrage.
"I can do what I please. I'm your older sister and apparently the only somewhat responsible being in this household. Now, go to your room." the older angel murmured quietly, not looking at her sister.
"I hate you..."
"What was that?"
"I hate you!" Rose screamed and ran to her room, slamming her bedroom door loudly. She fell onto her bed and buried her face in a pillow, tears springing to her eyes. Her small frame racked with sobs as her blue pillow was soaked with her salty tears.
Rose failed to hear her bedroom door open and close again softly, jumping in surprise as small hands rubbed her back. "Rose, don't cry. You know Krissy is only looking out for you."
"Somehow I don't completely believe you Lily. You heard her tone, she doesn't want anything to do with me." Rose sobbed.
Her youngest sibling was quiet for a moment as she continued to rub her back. "That's not true Rosey, and you know it."
"Maybe. Sometimes I just want to get out of here and go down to the world below. I want to prove everyone wrong and show them that humans aren't bad."
"You could go now. No one would know your going and Krissy did ban you to your room. She wouldn't even know your gone."
Rose sat up and smiled at her sister's innocence, "You know I could do that, but you might tell Kristina that I left."
Lily shook her head and bounced on Rose's bed, "No I wouldn't Rosey, because I'd be with you! I want to go with you!"
"You do realize that the Lord might find out about this right?"
"There is no might, He will. But that's okay, as long as we're together Rosey."
The purple butterfly smiled gently, "Then, I guess we should go as soon as we can then. Just a quick visit down there won't hurt anyone."
"Yay! We're going to Earth! That means we should change clothes then, so we won't stand out!" Lily dashed out of her sisters room and down the hall to change.
Rose watched her go with a grin, "That's right Lil, we'll be alright as long as we're together. They can't banish two of the seasonals can they?"
