Memories, like images, will fade.
And much like the reticence of imagery to be captured,
it is deliberate that the most recent images
date back into a past better left alone.
Even when there are calls for group photos,
it is easier and perhaps safer to be behind the lens.
It allows both the camera and myself to capture
that moment without being of it.
There is that inevitability to expect things
to be forgotten -- not really,
of course, but gradually it blurs
until there is no certainty of presence
if there was no tangible proof.
