so apparently my file has gone through their preliminary review and is complete. a reviewer-ess e-mailed me saying that she now will pass it on to a placement specialist for further review to best match my skill set to an available program departing in the coming months. she also says that I can expect to hear from her in approximately 4-6 weeks ( Read more... )

Yay for you! They could offer you something that leaves after Sept 10 or even before if for some reason they had a good fit and the program left before then....it could even be months after.....it is in their hands now....this is the fun part...MORE waiting....good luck hope you get the placement you wanted :)

so what, then is the point of the nomination, which according to them is by departure date?
like they nominated me for morocco/jordan due to the fact that I have some experience with french and told them I could leave on sept 10th.
now I find out that sbd vols are no longer going to morocco and jordan is not on the wiki list for 2011 - what the heck was the point of that nomination?

just curious :)

I'm going to talk to a placement specialist tomorrow and then know by july 19 (I hope).
heard morocco's only having youth developers come now, no more sbds.

I told them I could leave June 06 (and was nominated to go to W. Africa in July) but ended up being invited to go to Kenya in Sept 06. So...nomination sometimes means nothing and sometimes you'll leave a few months after your availability date. It turned out to be the best thing though - I think i was a much better fit for the program I went into rather than TEFL in W. Africa.

Nomination is more like guesstimation....it depends on if you are able to get through all of the clearance on time and programs change....so when they nominated you they did have it in the system but something must have changed....I had missed two different nominations because of delays in medical clearance before I was placed in my third (which I took)... this is something to get used to now before you....it is the government which means it does not make sense.

...which should make sense, seeing that they're i place to govern. ...in a utopia!
